Densitometria Osea

The Densitometría Osea is a study that permits the detection of the Osteoporosis.

The osteoporosis is an illness in which diminishes the quantity of minerals in the bone, losing force the trabecular part of the bone and being reduced the cortical zone by a defect in the absorption of the calcium, what turns them fragile and susceptible to fractures and micro fractures.

The densitómetro studies the mineral content of the bones using low dose of x rays.

PREPARATION

Eat as normal, avoid to take supplements of calcium 24 hours before the exam. 

Use comfortable clothes, like sweatshirts and undershirts without zipper.

It should be expected at least 7 days if has been taken contrasts or carried out studies of Barium.
